and this late 19th century  "Hidden Titles" game contains a smart thirty of them--wonderfully rendered through drawings and hand-written text lithographed onto nice weight cards--giving clues to the names of 30 places around the country and around the world

I take this for cipher writing, written using a secret code, perhaps made for passing between one school boy and another. The graphite letters were certainly written while applying a whole lot of pressure to the pencil suggesting that the writer had
