and with the weight balanced squarely on her on her shoulders she serves as quite a sturdy handle for carrying the load

with some wear to the black paint and a few tiny chips but looks and plays great

While I can't say for certain that the painting dates to the same period, I am pretty confident it does, and it is very much in the manner of eagles being drawn, painted and carved during and just after the Civil War. 13 bright yellow stars for the 13 colonies surrounding this wonderful big eagle,
