and with some age to it

but I'm more inclined to think its maker had a pet rat they were very fond of

I am guessing this piece is Native American

Best is the pinched edge along one side and almost pitcher-like opening at the corner of the other

Victorian Carved Shoe with Pinprick Decoration antique kindergartenfroebel kindergarten blocks Klijn's work has been offeredI believe this one was carved to hold a pin cushion, and certainly could again, but It's a quite an excellent carved shoe exactly as it is. Lovely pin prick type detailing along the sides and back and toe, and an especially nicely done front, with six nails for lacing. Polychromed a reddish brown, perfectly aged. Late 19th early 20th c I believe. 5 1 2" l x 2 7 8" t x 1 1 2" w. Very good antique condition with a great patina.
