with a few small chips to the marble one and some greening to the gilding on the wooden one (which I like

all the more so for missing an ear on one side of it

with this fantastic unkempt hair

and to my mind a homemade mousetrap is compelling in a similar way to a bee box--an individualistic and often make-do solution to the problem at hand

(Lots about that history here. ) There are plenty of photos of it out there, historic and contemporary, but none I've found that portrays a sense of this grassy expanse from which one might look up at it. And for me it's all about that perspective, with only the heads and shoulders of this seated pair visible, their bodies
