Description

monogrammed AH on the front and signed what looks like A Hall on similar on reverse--with a graphite sketch there too of a very prim and sour looking man

while the dowels are unpainted

But there is also something about the repetition of the urgency-loaded phrase "work for the night is coming" that feels timely in a different way

where one tried to land him in a basket or hole--and it does look like he's been tossed around a bunch

rich tonality and great objecthood

Proud Collie, c. 1930s-40s Painted Folk Art Cutout on Base antique plaster mold monogrammed AH on the frontSo handsome! Feels like the embodiment of pride and loyalty in perfect proportion to one another, too. And perfect aging to that creamy white paint. C. 1940s I believe and not a doorstop, just a cutout mounted to wooden base, painted on both sides. I'd situate him near the front door waiting patiently to welcome one home! 8 1 4" x 2 3 8" x 6 3 4" t. Good condition, with one minor spot of paint loss to one side of the green base.
